Calculate. Understand the assumptions.

Convert kvar, current and capacitance using your system values.

CALCULATED RESULT
36.084A

Nominal capacitor bank line current.

I = Q × 1000 / (√3 × VLL)

Assumes sinusoidal voltage, ideal capacitors and balanced three-phase operation. Calculated current does not size cables, fuses or contactors; harmonics, tolerances and inrush require separate assessment. Capacitor voltage in reactor-equipped banks requires a separate calculation.

Understand the equations

For three-phase systems, voltage is the line-to-line RMS value. The µF result applies to each branch of the star or delta connection. Do not confuse total kvar with the capacitance of one branch.
